Sixth Annual
“Diamonds in the Rough”
Hosted by Diamond Creek Vineyard’s proprietor, Boots Brounstein, this year’s event, on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, features the culinary delights of master chef Traci des Jardin of Jardiniere Restaurant in San Francisco. Traci is the recipient of both the James Beard Award for “Regional Best Chef of the Year” and of San Francisco magazine’s “Chef of the Year.” After dinner, singer Andrew Moore will entertain. Hailed as a “dashing, earnest troubadour” and “talented entertainer,” Andrew, a pianist-vocalist, is a frequent entertainer in the Napa Valley area. He has appeared at such venues as Copia: American Center for Wine, Food & the Arts; the Napa Valley Opera House; and the Jarvis Conservatory. The fundraiser, held at the Diamond Creek Vineyards winery, is limited to 50 guests at $2,500 per guest. The previous “Diamonds in the Rough” dinners have raised over $1.5 million for research at The Parkinson’s Institute in Sunnyvale, California. The mission of the Institute, led by its founder, Dr. J. William Langston, is to find the cause(s) of and a cure for Parkinson’s and provide the best possible treatment to those afflicted with this disease. Boots’ late husband, Al Brounstein, battled Parkinson’s for over 20 years. At least one million people in the United States are estimated to have Parkinson's; many of them, perhaps half, are thought to be undiagnosed.
